Branding for a municipal government is a huge project with so many moving parts. Designing something that will be imprinted on everything from letterheads to garbage trucks and mobile stages requires a lot of planning, failing, re-planning, editing, budgeting and the seeking out approval from not only a City Commission but the Citizens as well. Below is a selection of pages from the Brand Guide, revamped and release in 2018, four years after the initial brand launch.
City of Lakeland Branding
In 2012, I was tasked with designing some ideas for a new City of Lakeland logo. The logo at the time was dated and becoming more and more problematic since it was designed using Microsoft clip art. Over the course of two years, I worked on a new branding system that was unanimously approved by the then City Commission in September 2014.
